Tell us about your families
Demi: We have seven children between us, I have four and Mel has three.
What was your biggest adjustment for you both when becoming a mum?
Demi: Both of us had smooth transitions into motherhood, I was so lucky Scarlet was a very chilled baby.
Mel: My biggest adjustment was having someone so dependent on me so much!
How do you manage the juggle when it comes to trying to do it all?
Mel: We tried, we failed, and now we accept it’s physically impossible to do it all! lol!
What’s the best thing about being a mum?
Demi: The love you give and receive. Before children, it was incredibly hard to imagine a love like this.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve experienced while being a mum?
Demi: The juggle when moving from one to two, or two to three children. The new dynamic adjustment has always been the hardest time for both of us.

What surprised you the most when becoming a mum?
Mel: Just how much joy you can truly get from watching a little life grow and learn.
What do you wish you knew before becoming a mum?
Demi: To go easy on yourself and not try to “do it all”. Forget what you see on social media!
If you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself – or other mums?
Mel: Lean into it. Don’t resist the sleepless nights or the dinners and events you miss. This is your phase of life right now, and it won’t last forever..
Do you have any tips or tricks to manage the day-to-day juggle?
Demi: Click and collect! Honestly, a game-changer for avoiding the big grocery shop. Staying on top of meal prep is a non-negotiable. And to keep the house clean? Don’t procrastinate!
How do you manage your time to fit in career, being a mum, your relationship, and time for you?
Mel: Every week has a different focus. It’s impossible to have every need met all at once, but over time, we make sure every important element gets attention.
Who’s in your village?
It’s a challenge, it’s constantly changing and evolving. I don’t think you have a choice. You just have to go with it as it’s happening. I don’t treat my children exactly the same; they are individuals that require individual care. I am guided by them, I try to listen to them and their needs, being there for them is so important. I get over one hurdle and another one happens. There’s always something.
Who is in your village?
Demi: My family and especially my mum, she’s my saving grace.
Mel: My family, definitely.

MISSTA
What was the driving force behind creating MISSTA?
Mel: There are many, but mainly we wanted to remove the stress parents can feel when introducing formula. Formula feeding should be just as special and enjoyable as breastfeeding, and mothers should feel equally important.
What’s the best thing about having MISSTA?
Demi: Learning! We both love exercising our minds every day. We love challenges, seeing our hard work pay off, and trying new things with MISSTA.

What’s the biggest challenge about having MISSTA?
Mel: When other mums switch off, we don’t. We cram in work during every spare moment of the day. That’s probably the hardest part.
What’s surprised you the most since starting MISSTA?
Demi: We’ve surprised ourselves with how resilient we are – especially during manufacturing challenges or tough business periods.
What’s next for MISSTA?
Mel: We want to continue expanding our product range and grow into a one-stop formula-feeding destination. Plus, increase awareness across Australia. Right now, 1 in 20 formula-feeding parents use MISSTA, and our goal is to continue to see that number to grow.
