From Solo Mum to Soul-Led Businesswoman: Hayley Morcom on Motherhood, Mindset and Dreaming Bigger

An honest conversation about purpose, personal growth and pursuing the things that truly light her up.

Tell us about your family. How many Kids?

I’m a solo mama to my beautiful eight-year-old daughter, Pippa.

Her dad and I have been separated for over six years, and we’ve built a really beautiful co-parenting relationship.

We also have a cheeky little Toy Cavoodle, Louie, who keeps us laughing every single day.

What’s the part of being a mum that fills you up the most?

Being the best role model and example I can be. Knowing I have the ability to influence how she sees the world, herself, her body, food, health, and her thoughts is such a privilege. That responsibility means everything to me.

What’s one thing that genuinely helps you stay afloat in the day-to-day juggle?

A regulated nervous system! Daily meditation and my journalling practice are completely non-negotiable.

How do you carve out space for career, motherhood, love, friends, and still find a moment for you?

I get really clear on what I want each day to look like. I want to run my life, not have my life run me. From there, it’s about planning, organising, delegating, setting boundaries, and prioritising my time intentionally.

Where do you find fashion that genuinely feels like you?

I love fashion that feels unique and aligns with my values and the brands I genuinely connect with. I’m definitely more of a try-it-on-in-store kind of girl rather than an online shopper, although most of my activewear gets purchased online.

What does living a healthy, grounded life look like in your world?

Living with intention and staying aligned with my values. Every morning, I meditate and visualise how I want my day to look and feel.

It gives me the stillness to create that vision while helping regulate my nervous system, so I can move through whatever the day brings with a little more ease and calm.

Because, let’s be honest, things don’t always go to plan, and that’s just life.

How do you keep your body moving in a way that feels realistic and sustainable?

I choose movement that I genuinely enjoy. I love running, walking, reformer Pilates, and doing a sweaty Tracy Anderson workout at home. I enjoy it so much that it never feels like a chore.

What’s one non-negotiable that keeps your mind and body well?

Meditation and journalling. Nervous system regulation is truly the foundation for so much in life. I always say that your internal world will eventually be mirrored in your physical body.

When you think of balance, what does that actually mean to you in real life?

I believe in the dance of life. Trying to keep every area perfectly balanced just isn’t realistic or sustainable. I love that each day looks and feels different. When your nervous system is regulated, you’re able to handle whatever comes your way with more ease and resilience.

One mindset shift I always come back to is, wherever you are, be there. Whether I’m doing crafts with my daughter, working out, or focusing on work, I try to be fully present in that moment.

I think there’s something really powerful about giving your attention to what’s right in front of you instead of constantly feeling pulled in a dozen different directions.

What does your morning routine look like, honestly?

Honestly, it’s my favourite part of the day. I genuinely bounce out of bed, but that’s come from years of building the habit and putting in the work to become a morning person.

I’m usually up around 4.50–5am. I start with 500ml of warm lemon water and a natural pre-workout while journalling or listening to a morning activation. Then it’s time for a workout, followed by a run or walk with the dog.

After that, my daughter wakes up and we move into our school morning routine. If she’s at her dad’s, I head straight into work.

How do you wind down at night?

I cook a nourishing meal, keep the lighting low, switch on the salt lamps and red lights, and try to minimise screen time, although I’m definitely not perfect at that. I usually have relaxing music playing too.

Honestly, the lighting is a huge part of my evening routine. Every night looks a little different, but creating that environment helps our bodies slow down and prepare for rest. Like most things, it’s a learned behaviour that has evolved over many years.

What’s something about you that would genuinely surprise people?

I’m incredibly multi-dimensional and have worn a lot of hats over the years.

I’ve worked as a radio and TV announcer, I have a background in personal training and voice-over work, and I even got my dog trainer qualification at one point because I wanted to start a business involving dogs and humans working out together. I’ll try just about anything!

What’s a truth about yourself that took you years to finally admit out loud?

I’m very hard on myself and hold myself to incredibly high standards. Even when I achieved success, I was always looking ahead to the next goal instead of celebrating where I was. These days, I’m much more intentional about soaking in the small wins and feeling proud of the little moments along the way.

When do you feel most like the truest version of you?

Every day, honestly. My business is built around doing what I genuinely love. I document my life as I’m already living it and help women feel their best. Coaching women absolutely lights me up.

What’s a single moment that quietly shifted the direction of your life?

Moving from regional Victoria to the Sunshine Coast more than two years ago. It was a big, bold leap, and it’s changed my life in the best possible way. I still pinch myself that this is my reality now.

What’s a mistake you’re genuinely grateful you made?

Does choosing the wrong men count? (Laughs.)

But honestly, some of the relationships I’ve had in the past taught me so much and ultimately led me to where I am today. For that, I’ll always be grateful.

What’s one boundary that completely changed your life?

Learning to say no without guilt. Saying no to invitations, opportunities, or people that didn’t feel aligned has been one of the biggest game changers in my life.

What part of yourself do you judge the most?

I sometimes think I should be further along in my career than I am.

But I consciously pull myself up whenever that voice creeps in. I’ve learned so much and experienced so much in my life, and I try to remind myself that everyone’s timeline looks different.

What’s something you pretend you don’t care about, but secretly do?

The metrics. Social media, my podcast, my YouTube channel. I wish they didn’t bother me, but some days they absolutely do.
It’s hard not to get caught up in the numbers when so much of what we do is measured and put on display. I constantly remind myself that impact isn’t always reflected in likes, views, or followers, but I’m human, and some days those metrics still get to me.

What’s something about you that people would never guess?

I’m a lefty!

If you could live an entirely different life for a year, what would you choose?

I’d travel around Australia and vlog the whole experience, and get paid to do it, of course!

What’s something that still feels uncomfortable but you’re pushing yourself to do anyway?

Showing up even when I can’t see the results yet, or when it feels like I’m talking to a brick wall. Writing my book and starting a new vlog have both been huge lessons in delayed gratification, and that’s definitely uncomfortable at times.

What’s a version of yourself you’re trying to become?

A best-selling author, a speaker on big stages, someone who hosts incredible women’s events, and a well-paid YouTuber and podcaster through my vlog and podcast.

When you think about your younger self, what do you wish she knew?

Keep showing up. Keep saying yes to the things that scare you. It will all pay off, even when you can’t see it happening in the moment.

What’s the hardest part of motherhood for you to admit out loud?

Being fully present with my daughter when my to-do list is running through my mind.

What’s a small joy that gets you through this season of life?

Laughter and fun.

My word for this year is FUN, and I’ve been intentionally leaning into belly laughs and finding joy in the little moments.

Thankfully, my partner and daughter make that very easy.

Five things you can’t leave home without?

I couldn’t narrow it down to five, so here’s my top seven!

  1. Eco Lips Pure & Simple Coconut Lip Balm – my absolute favourite natural lip balm.
  2. No Pong Deodorant (Bicarb Free, Flower Power) – a non-negotiable.
  3. Bon Charge EMF-Free Air Tube Earphones – I take these everywhere.
  4. Pur Peppermint Mints – my healthy mint obsession.
  5. Chief Double Choc or White Chocolate Fibre Boost Protein Bars – always have one on hand.
  6. Serene Body Health Fresh Spirit Perfume – my go-to low-tox fragrance.
  7. Noosa Basics Hand Cream (Kakadu Plum & Sweet Orange) – because dry hands are never the vibe.

Visit, Buy, Do

Visit: A beautiful wellness retreat somewhere in the US. Somewhere with incredible nourishing food, space, support, and the time to truly reconnect with myself. I’ve learned that how you feel in your life is everything.

Buy: A completely new wardrobe that reflects my highest self. Beautiful feminine dresses, gorgeous activewear, and pieces that make me feel elevated and aligned.

Do: I’d say yes to all the facials and beauty treatments on offer so I could walk away feeling refreshed, upgraded, and completely rejuvenated.

What inspired you to become a Body Confidence, Weight Loss and Mindset Coach?

Lived experience. I’ve overcome so much in my own life, and I always knew I was meant to help other women do the same.

I’ve navigated binge and emotional eating, self-hatred, a terrible relationship with my body and food, peri and postnatal depression, grief, and so much more. Helping women genuinely feel their best feels like my purpose.

What has been the biggest challenge?

Getting my message across effectively through my marketing. I still feel like I undersell the depth of what my clients experience and the transformation that actually happens inside my coaching programs.

Have you had moments where you wanted to give up?

Absolutely. All the time! But I’ve trained my brain to lean into delayed gratification, maybe a little too well at times, so I never really let myself quit. I’ve been in business for more than nine years now, and I know there will always be highs and lows.

When did you realise it was going to be a success?

When I realised that my story could genuinely help other women create the results they were looking for.

I remember helping my very first client heal her binge eating and maintain a healthy weight while still enjoying the foods she loved. I thought, Oh my goodness, this is actually working.

I might really be onto something here.

Have you had to make changes to your business since becoming a mum?

Absolutely. I’ve become much more intentional with time-blocking my workdays and doing less work at night so I can be more present and create better boundaries.

Can you share what’s coming up next?

A book! I’m finally writing the book that’s been on my heart since I was a little girl.

It’s called 180 Days to a Balanced & Glowing Body, a Clear Mind and a Deeply Soul-Led Life, One Day at a Time. It’s a six-month journey that guides readers through simple daily steps to help them create lasting change in their health, mindset and the way they live.

Watch this space!

I’ve also just launched Finally Free, a mini-course for women who are ready to start creating change today. It’s a glimpse into the philosophy behind Naturally Well, my signature program that I’ve been teaching for more than six years and that has helped hundreds of women transform their lives.

Any advice for someone wanting to start a business?

Just do it. Start before you feel ready. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Start messy and keep showing up.

One of my favourite mantras is: Done is better than perfect.
