“Feeling your best” – what health, happiness and balance really look like for Melbourne Stylist Prue Webb.

When it comes to the juggle  “you can’t do it all, not at the same time”.

Can you tell us a little about you and your family?

I have 2 children – a daughter who is almost 16 and a son who is 11.

Adjusting to motherhood…

Being responsible for someone other than myself.

How do you manage the juggle when it comes to trying to do it all?

I have learnt that you can’t do it all, not at the same time. So you have to tweak your life to reflect your priorities. And then constantly check in on yourself to ensure it’s still working at different life stages. And if it isn’t, tweak again.

The best thing about motherhood?

Having a team of your favourite people.

What is the biggest challenge you experienced when becoming a mum or whilst being a mum?

Being incredibly sick for the duration of both pregnancies.

And having a really easy time with my first baby and then coming up against challenges with my second that caused me to struggle with anxiety.

I wasn’t expecting that, second time around.

What surprised you the most when becoming a mum?

For me, it was the immense love that comes with it. Like how does your heart have that much room?!

What do you wish you knew before becoming a mum?

There is stuff you just cannot know before being a mum. I also wish I had been able to talk to my mum about becoming a mother (she passed away when I was 19).

If you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself or others?

It’s true what all the older ladies say to you when you’re walking with your pram – the first years really do go quickly. And also – that you are doing a really, really great job being a mother.

Any tips to manage the day-to-day juggle?

Not really. Take short cuts when necessary and don’t feel guilty about doing that. And ask for help.

How do you manage your time to fit in career, being a mum, relationship and time for you?

It’s really hard. You have to constantly review it to ensure that it’s all working. And sometimes it has to be weighted more to one part than the other. Getting the right balance is an endless quest.

Who is in your village?

My husband. We don’t have family close by so we are a team and Kath and I are very much each other’s support person. We constantly check in on each other and make sure work works for us around family.

The 5 things in your bag you can’t leave home without:

  1. Chanel Lip Balm
  2. iPhone 16 Pro
  3. Aesop Hand Cream and Rinse-Free Hand Wash
  4. Jacques Marie Mage Prescription glasses
  5. Queen of Hungary Facial Mist

Your favourite holiday spot?

In Australia, Brunswick Heads. We stayed there years ago and went back this past summer.

Why do you love this place?

I love the low-keyness of it. It has retained its small beachside town vibe with the most beautiful river running through it. You walk everywhere. Life slows right down. You jump off the bridge, eat ice cream every day, drink cold beer at the pub while listening to live music. Eat delicious food. It’s the best.

Next stop on the travel wishlist?

New York. I am desperate to get back there as it’s been a while.

Your favourite brand?

That’s like asking who is my favourite child! I love Rohé and am really loving Bassike’s collection this season.

The trend you’re loving?

Volume. I like the oversize trend. It feels way cooler and is way more comfortable to wear.

The trend you can’t get on board with?

Low-rise anything – makes my legs look short!

Latest brand discovery?

Dark Park. I love the oversized silhouettes, it’s sexy but has a masculine edge and the fabrications are spot on.

Where do you do most of your fashion shopping?

Everywhere. COS for basics with an edge, INCU, Scanlan & Theodore, Net-a-Porter, Bassike, and Shag for vintage finds.

What does a healthy lifestyle mean to you?

Feeling your best.

How do you keep your body moving?

I have a golden retriever so we walk him every day. Pilates and I have just started weight training again.

Top tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle?

Cook your own food. Drink lots of water. Don’t drink too much alcohol. Get good sleep. Move your body. These are not just my tips – it’s what the doctors say! Magnesium is also my saviour. I have been taking it since I had my babies.

Your non-negotiables when it comes to health and wellness?

I rely on naturopathy and the odd massage every now and again.

What does the word ‘balance’ mean to you?

Feeling happy and content. Not feeling overwhelmed by a particular part of your life.
